A violent criminal who bit a police officer and left her with a huge gash on her arm has been released from prison after serving just a quarter of his sentence.
Brett Ferre attacked PC Danielle Ruzewicz as she tried to help him in Portchester, Hampshire.
He was sentenced to 2 years and 4 months but was let out after serving only 7 months.
Here’s a picture of the officer’s injury.
Hampshire Police Federation chairman John Apter said: “Here you have an officer who was so badly bitten by this animal that she is scarred for life.
“For such a violent offender to serve such a short part of his sentence is not justice.
“The original sentence was not enough for the injuries sustained – but for Ferre to serve just seven months is a disgrace and in no way takes account of the victim’s feelings.”
Violent thugs are not being given the sentences they deserve, so there’s no deterrent stopping them from committing violent crimes again. The justice system now doesn’t even protect police officers, let alone ordinary members of the public.
