The Brexit Party visits No 10 to demand a seat at the table

Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage and party chairman Richard Tice have visited 10 Downing Street today to deliver a letter to the prime minister demanding a seat at the Brexit negotiating table in light of their huge European elections victory.

The letter, which has also been sent to the current Tory leadership contenders, points out that the party has “the most recent, and winning democratic mandate on Brexit”.

“The electorate have asked for us to come into the negotiating team and we are ready to do so immediately. This is especially the case given the lack of activity and focus, due to the leadership contest. We should firstly review the state of No Deal preparations and help advance them as required, to give confidence to the nation that we will be fully ready.”

With 29 MEPs compared to just four won by the governing Conservatives on May 23, it will be hard for the prime minister to pretend they don’t have a legitimate case.
