Telford MP demands answers over sickening grooming gang abuse

Telford MP Lucy Allan is still looking for answers as to why a grooming gang didn’t face proper justice for the rape of a 13-year-old girl.

The victim was ‘deemed’ to have consented, but this should be irrelevant: She was underage and therefore can’t consent.

It comes after shocking revelations about the scale of grooming gangs operating in Telford, with as many as 1,000 girls abused over a 40-year period.

She asked the Solicitor General in Parliament about the issue, and it sounded a bit like he fobbed her off.

He said: “It’s an extremely complex and sensitive case. The CPS are looking at the matter. They’re taking the time to investigate it fully and the Home Office will respond. I’m sure that that constructive engagement will continue.”

The fact is that in town after town, underage girls have been abused by grooming gangs comprising of predominantly men from Pakistani backgrounds. This has been going on for years now. It’s time to act, and act decisively.
