Telford grooming scandal: Three Councillors 'exposed as paedophiles including social services chief'

Three politicians linked to the Telford child grooming scandal have now been found guilty of child sexual offences themselves.

Telford was the scene of possibly the worst child abuse scandal to hit UK shores – with around 1,000 children believed to have been abused during a 40-year period.

Rev Michael Keen, 78, who was on a Police Authority board, got 15 months for 2 assaults on a 15-year-old boy, the victim was also assaulted by former Councillor Graham Bould, 60, chair of Shropshire County Council’s social services from 1993 -1998.

Parish councillor Graham White, took indecent images of a 14-year-old girl.

Local MP Lucy Allan said: “I hope that as part of its work the inquiry will examine the culture of the council.

“We have seen in other towns, where child sexual exploitation has been prevalent, that the culture of the council led to inaction and silence over many years.”

Perhaps this goes a long way to explaining why child abuse was allowed to continue for years unabated. Child abuse is a cancer that needs stamping out of society and to see that it’s people in positions of power who are responsible is absolutely sickening. Lock them up, throw away the key.
