Another media company is advertising roles only open to non-white candidates, following a worrying trend.
Now The Telegraph have got 6 roles that are only open to non-white candidates. The roles are editorial internships including on the Telegraph Sports Desk, News Team, Personal Finance Team and Video Team.
The paid internships all state that: “This traineeship is only open to candidates from a black, Asian or non-white ethnic minority background.”
Pretty sad that in 2018 youngsters are being excluded from opportunities in media industry because of the colour of their skin. Why can’t poor white kids apply? https://t.co/dsZwzvkJzT

This isn’t equality. Stopping people from applying for a role because they happen to white is disgusting – and means those who happen to be privately-educated and from a different ethnic background now have more opportunities to get into media than a poor white kid from a Council estate. How does that make any sense whatsoever?
This is all pretty ridiculous given the media industry is more dominated by the privately-educated now than it was in the 1980s.
When are we as a society going to move past race as a defining feature of an individual? True diversity is who we are as individuals – not some bizarre skin deep judgement that sees businesses group people together by skin colour.
