Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini continues to battle against illegal migration to the country and has insisted that he wants to pursue the Australian model in stopping the boats from coming,
The latest controversy centres around the Dicotti ship that picked up migrants in Maltese waters. Around 150 migrants are now on board, though 27 migrant children have been allowed to disembark.
Writing on Twitter, Salvini said: “#Stopinvasione My goal is to block barges and barrows, it is to organise in the African countries of the counters who decide who has the right to leave and who does not, following the Australian model.”
He has also said: “My objective is the Australian No Way (policy).
“They are all illegal immigrants on the Dicotti. Italy is no longer Europe’s refugee camp. With my authorisation on the Diciotti, no one gets off”.
#Stopinvasione.
ll mio obiettivo è bloccare barconi e barchini, è organizzare nei Paesi africani degli sportelli che decidano chi ha diritto di partire e chi no, seguendo il modello australiano.
