‘Anti-Brexit campaigners’ last night reportedly tried to block a road leading to a Brexit Party public meeting last night. They really aren’t big fans of democracy, are they?
Shortly before the event in Merthyr Tydfil was due to start, Brexit Party Chairman Richard Tice tweeted: “Remainers have blocked the roads around the venue to stop Brexiteers getting in – bear with us – rally likely start @ 7.10pm.
“Remainers have run out of arguments so they’re now resorting to physically blocking us – but they won’t succeed #EnoughIsEnough.”
The Telegraph’s Christoper Hope confirmed what was going on: “It’s all happening in Merthyr Tydfil. Nigel Farage is preparing to give a speech tonight to his supporters in a supermarket car park and now anti-Brexit campaigners have blocked the roads so the Brexiteers cannot get in.”
Nigel Farage responded by saying: “Remain campaigners have just blocked the road to stop the public from attending a Brexit Party rally in Merthyr Tydfil.
“This attempt to stop democracy from taking place is a total disgrace. We would never behave like that.”
Fellow Brexit Party candidate Annunziata Rees-Mogg wrote: “I’m appalled by this. What is happening to our democracy? Who do they think they are to tell us where to go and what to think?”
