POLL: Le Pen has started stronger than Macron

A new poll out shows that the French people think Marine Le Pen has made a better start to the second round of the election than establishment rival Emmanuel Macron.

50% of those asked say Le Pen has started off well, compared to 43% for Macron.

Interestingly, supporters of eliminated candidates Jean-Luc Melenchon and Francois Fillon both think Macron’s second round campaign has got off to a worse start as well.

The EU-backed Macron has already made several gaffes and  yesterday sought to spend time with the media at a factory under-threat of closure as Le Pen stood with the workers.
