Former UKIP Leader Paul Nuttall is the latest figure to quit the party.
He too has cited Gerard Batten’s link up with Tommy Robinson, taking the party in a new anti-Islam direction.
Nuttall is quoted as saying: “After much soul-searching over the past week, I have concluded that I must, as of today, resign as a member of UKIP.”
His decision comes after Nigel Farage announced his decision to leave the party, as well as fellow MEP Patrick O’Flynn.
The challenge will now be for the Tory Party to become the Brexiteer Party – or else something new will surely start up.
