EU and Remain MPs push to delay Brexit, extend Article 50

There is now a concerted push to extend the Article 50 deadline, effectively delaying Brexit in a last ditch move by Brussels and Remain MPs to stop a proper EU exit or kill off leaving completely.

Brussels would be prepared to discuss extending Article 50 in order to a avoid a No Deal Brexit, according to The Telegraph.

It is proof of how the UK does have leverage: those across Europe would much prefer a deal to No Deal. The British government should have pushed this a lot harder in the negotiations.

Of course this will be huge a concern to Brexiteers who have been promised time and time again that the country would Brexit on 29th March 2019, as Theresa May has repeated recently.

It isn’t just Brussels putting forward the idea of locking the UK into the EU for even longer. Labour MP Lisa Nandy told ITV’s Peston last night: “We’ve got to seek an extension of Article 50 in order to get the time in order to involve Parliament and the public in what comes next.”
