'Nasty Gal' advert banned despite featuring healthy weight model

Britain’s slide into bizarre authoritarian banning of all and sundry continues, with an advert featuring a healthy model next on the hit list after receiving a mammoth 22 complaints.

The Nasty Gal advert featured a model in a bikini. The company confirmed that she was a healthy UK size 8 with a Body Mass Index within the healthy range for an adult woman.

Despite this, the Advertising Standards Authority have ruled that during the advert some poses had “drew attention to her slimness” including the “model lying on a sun lounger stretching her arms, which emphasised their slimness and length”.

This meant that they “considered that the model appeared unhealthily underweight in those scenes and concluded that the ads were therefore irresponsible”.

And so as a result “the ads must not be broadcast again in their current form”.
