Merkel’s popularity plummets, 11% behind in latest poll

The extent to which Angela Merkel’s reputation has been shattered in Germany is demonstrated in the latest poll that has her trailing by 11% when candidates for Chancellor are put head to head.

49% of Germans now want socialist Martin Schulz as Chancellor, with Merkel trailing by a distance on 38%.

The negative image of Merkel is demonstrated by the fact that her party itself still has a 4% lead.

The anti-Euro Alternative for Germany are the third most popular party on 10%.

It would seem that Angela Merkel’s toxic legacy in the country has become terminal.
