May's Brexit proposal 'would effectively make US trade deal impossible'

The first few reactions to Theresa May’s Brexit paper are already trickling out – and it looks like the plan would kill off any prospect of a big bumper trade deal with America.

It is already being reported that the proposal would mean that the ‘the UK should maintain a common rulebook for all goods including agri-food’ with regulatory alignment on goods as well.

As some are already reporting, that is likely to kill stone dead any prospect of a bumper US trade deal being offered by President Trump.

Independence means being able to forge global trade deals, not being held back by EU rules.
