The first few reactions to Theresa May’s Brexit paper are already trickling out – and it looks like the plan would kill off any prospect of a big bumper trade deal with America.
It is already being reported that the proposal would mean that the ‘the UK should maintain a common rulebook for all goods including agri-food’ with regulatory alignment on goods as well.
As some are already reporting, that is likely to kill stone dead any prospect of a bumper US trade deal being offered by President Trump.

Independence means being able to forge global trade deals, not being held back by EU rules.
Surely Brexiteers can’t stand for this?
