Ursula von der Leyen has been picked to take over the role, having said in 2011: “My goal is the United States of Europe, based on the model of the federal states of Switzerland, Germany or the US.”
A new ARD poll in Germany reveals that just 33% of Germans think she’s a good choice for the top EU role.
Whilst a whopping 56% do not think she is a good choice.
Only 33% of Germans believe @vonderleyen good choice for president of European Commission.
71% say European Parliament should have final say on who becomes president of European Commission (up from 60% in 2014).
