A war of words has erupted in Italy after a row broke out between George Soros and the Deputy Leader of Lega.
The row started after George Soros gave an interview in which he openly accused Lega leader, Matteo Salvini, of being funded by Russia.
He said: “Italians have a right to know if Salvini is funded by Putin, I am very concerned about Russian influences”.

Lega’s Deputy Leader, Claudio Borghi Aquilini, hit back at the open borders fanatic, tweeting a link to a statement which said if Soros is concerned about what they’re doing – they must be doing something right!

“Soros worried by the Italian government? Then it means that we are going in the right direction,” he opined.
He added that “those who have speculated for years…financing NGOs and smugglers to invade Italy” have now ‘realised their game is up’ and will use ‘any excuse they can’ to attack the government.
Following Italy’s General Election, Lega have soared in popularity. A recent poll suggests they are now polling at nearly 30%, up from the 17.4% they won at the election.
