Labour MP Laura Smith has said that there should be a mass participation General Strike if an election isn’t called.
Speaking at a fringe event at Labour Conference, the MP for Crewe and Nantwich said: “If we can’t get a General Election we should organise with our brothers and sisters in the Trade Unions to bring an end to this government with a General Strike.”

The call received standing ovation including from Shadow Justice Secretary Richard Burgon.
Smith has a wafer-thin majority of 48 votes. Wonder how this bonkers far-left rhetoric will go down in her constituency?
