The legal order is set to be laid today, with a letter to MPs confirming the EU elections unless Theresa May’s deal is passed before then.

The Conservatives clearly think the election will go ahead. In a letter to potential candidates, Tory HQ has said: “Due to the current situation we will be contesting the European Elections on 23rd May 2019.”

As Lord Ashcroft has highlighted, Ladbrokes currently have Labour as the favourites to win the most seats at 5/4, with Nigel Farage’s new Brexit Party 3/1 to finish in first place.
