In an interview with CNN, Juncker spoke out against “these populist, nationalists, stupid nationalists, they are in love with their own countries”. Not sure that’s going to go down too well with patriotic voters ahead of the European Elections!
Juncker ridiculously claims that: “They don’t like those coming from far away, I like those coming from far away…we have to act in solidarity with those who are in a worse situation than we are in.”
He also reckons EU support is on the increase: “Since Brexit…the number of those in favour of the European Union is increasing because people are watching what is happening and they are seeing that leaving the European Union is not as easy as they were told.” We’ll see if that’s true after the EU Elections!
When it comes to Brits being made to vote again, Juncker said: “I would like to say yes to a second referendum, but the result might not be any different. We are observers in a British stadium – it’s up for them to decide.” Very big of you, Jean-Claude!
Juncker also talked up Theresa May and said that he has a “good relationship” with Nigel Farage, whilst saying of Brexit: “I hope they will agree among themselves, and they will leave (the EU) by the end of October…I think it’s their patriotic duty to get an agreement.”
We suspect the increasing numbers of Brits now in favour of a No Deal Brexit would strongly disagree. The UK must leave the EU as soon as possible on WTO terms.
