Italy’s new anti-establishment, Eurosceptic Five Star/Lega coalition will be looking to deport hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants as the country seeks to recover from the European Union’s disastrous handling of the migrant crisis.
The governing deal includes the aim of deporting illegal migrants on a big scale, with the agreement stating: “A serious and efficient repatriation policy is a priority that cannot be delayed.”
New detention centres will be set up around the country with the aim of speeding up deportations.
This is a policy that Lega’s Matteo Salvini has previously spoken in support of and he wants Italy to stop simply taking in huge amounts of people as has been the case for a while now.
The party’s will also be looking to shut down illegal gypsy camps and there will be scrutiny over the funding of mosques.
At the General Election the Italian people voted for radical political change. Looks like they are going to get it.
