The threat from Islamist terror could be set to increase according to a senior official in Whitehall who has spoken to Sky News.
Today’s National Security Review from the government is set to outline how the jihadi threat is here to stay and could actually get even more severe.
The official is quoted as saying: “We expect the threat from Islamist terrorism to remain at its current heightened level for at least two years and it might increase further.”
A new “Fusion Doctrine” is set to be unveiled to bring together all aspects of government in the name of national security.
There are serious question marks over the government’s worrying policy on returning jihadis though.
Around 400 have been allowed back into the country, and the government have insisted that “a significant proportion of those individuals who have already returned are assessed as no longer being of national security concern”.
If you are seeking to protect the public from dangerous jihadis and a rising terror threat, how can this have been allowed to happen?
