Asylum seekers who arrive in Hungary will be detained whilst their applications are processed.
Hungary’s Parliament has backed the move, spearheaded by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, aimed at minimising the security risk from those posing as refugees in order to sneak into Europe.
The bill reads: “In the future, illegal immigrants must wait for the verdict on their asylum case in designated transit zones at the border.”
No doubt the politically correct establishment will be up in arms once again. But Hungary’s stance is the right one if bogus asylum seekers are to be rumbled and rejected. It is also the right move in a Europe that is now under sustained attack from Islamic State whose stated policy is to smuggle their fighters into the continent by posing as refugees.
