Government employee stabbed outside Home Office

There was a stabbing outside the Home Office in broad daylight yesterday, with a government employee the victim of an apparent attack.

Police were called at around 13:00, where they found a man in his 60s suffering knife wounds.

He was taken to hospital with injuries confirmed as non-life threatening.

Police arrested a man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and also possession of CS spray.

As to a potential motive, the Met have said: “At this early stage of the investigation, the incident is not being treated as terrorism-related, although officers are still keeping an open mind with regards any possible motive.”

Home Secretary Priti Patel responded to the incident by saying: “All my thoughts are with the victim and their family following horrific unprovoked knife attack on Marsham Street.”
