The government have suffered a brutal defeat on whether Ministers were in contempt of Parliament by not releasing full legal advice on Brexit.
MPs voted 311-293 that government Ministers were in contempt of Parliament. The DUP’s MPs voted against the government.
Andrea Leadsom confirmed that the “final and full advice” from the Attorney General to Cabinet will now be published.
Earlier the government had lost a narrow vote 311 to 307 seeking to refer the issue to the Commons Privileges Committee.
