'Civility over rudeness' EU Vice-President celebrates Democrats' success in US Midterms

The Vice-President of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans has celebrated Democratic gains in the US Midterm elections claiming “inclusion” won over “racism”.

Timmermans tweeted in relation to the US election: “Inspired by voters in the US who chose hope over fear, civility over rudeness, inclusion over racism, equality over discrimination. They stood up for their values. And so will we.”

His comments come after Trump’s Republicans lost control over the House of Representatives in last night’s Midterm elections, however, they made key gains in the Senate and held off a Democratic ‘Blue Wave’.

The EU’s rhetoric against the US has been ramped up in recent days, with President Macron of France yesterday talking about the need for an EU army: “To protect ourselves with respect to China, Russia and even the United States of America.”

However, Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini tweeted his congratulations to Trump saying: “Congratulations to the President for the seats conquered in the Senate and confirmation in crucial states, against everything and against all: Leftist journalists, actors and singers, directors and pseudo-intellectuals…”

The EU is getting increasingly aggressive to their historic ally.
