David Macdonald, who will still appear on the ballot for Change, is changing his support with a endorsement for the LibDems instead.

The previous Change lead candidate for Scotland, Joseph Russo, stood down after one day.

Change’s Chuka Umunna responded by saying: “It is obviously disappointing that this candidate has chosen to pledge allegiance to another party – he has let down his fellow candidates and activists.”

The new party continues to make little impact in the polls. Quite the contrast to the fortunes so far of the Brexit Party.
