Man ‘deliberately’ ploughs car into 6 soldiers in Paris

At least 6 French soldiers are hurt, 2 seriously, after a car ploughed into them as they left a barracks in Paris – a man driving an identical car to the attacker has now been shot and arrested.

He has been identified as Hamou B.

A dark coloured BMW, driven by a man, came towards the soldiers and ran them over before the suspect sped away – the region’s Mayor says he has “no doubt” it was a deliberate attack.

Mayor Patrick Balkany added: “It’s an intolerable aggression, I find it shameful. It’s a heinous attack against these young soldiers.”

It happened in the Levallois-Perret area of the French capital and the soldiers are understood to belong to the 35th infantry regiment. They were part of Operation Sentinel, a dedicated counter-terror patrol set up in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo attack.

But armed police have just stopped a car they believed was the attacker’s. The driver did not pull over and was shot – he’s in a serious condition.

A manhunt is underway for the attacker, who is thought to have been driving a BMW.

France is on high alert – Since January 2015 Jihadist attacks have killed 239 people in the country.
