'Allahu Akbar' Strasbourg gunman still on the run

A man suspected of an attack near Strasbourg Christmas market reportedly shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ during his sickening attack.

The incident left two people dead and around a dozen injured after the 29-year-old name only as ‘Chérif Chekatt’ is suspected of using a handgun and knife to attack innocent people.

It has been reported that he had 27 convictions in France, Germany and Switzerland and had been flagged as a potential extremist after he “called for practising a radical form of religion”. He was on a security services watchlist and had been under surveillance.

Chekatt was seemingly injured in an exchange of fire with French soldiers, but managed to escape the scene.

The fugitive is now being hunted across France and the German border, indicating that officials believe he may have slipped out of the country entirely.

French authorities have warned the public: “Dangerous individual, above all do not intervene.”

This once again demonstrates the horrific terror threat Europe now faces.
