'Allahu Akbar' Manchester knife attack being treated as terror-related

A triple stabbing in a Manchester train station last night is being treated as a “terrorist investigation”, the police have confirmed.

The incident took place in Manchester Victoria station yesterday night with a police officer and two others being stabbed.

Eyewitness Sam Clark, a BBC producer, has said: “It was pretty scary. It was just me on the platform and as I was standing there I heard the most blood-curdling scream I had ever heard from a woman near by. It looked like there was a fight going on.

“I heard the guy shout ‘Allah’ distinctly. I didn’t hear the rest of the sentence.”

A subsequent video of the suspect being arrested appears to show him shouting “Allahu Akbar” and “long live the Caliphate”.

Home Secretary Sajid Javid has also confirmed that Counter-Terror Police are on the case, tweeting: “This morning, my thoughts with the three victims of #ManchesterVictoria stabbing incident last night, including a brave police officer.

“Wishing them all a full recovery. A suspect has been arrested and @TerrorismPolice are leading the investigation.”
