9 migrants land on Kent beach as boats keep coming

More boats containing suspected illegal migrants are coming across the English Channel to Kent, after 40 migrants were discovered on 5 boats on Christmas Day alone.

9 migrants (5 men, 1 woman and 3 children) were discovered on the Kent shore this morning, having landed on a beach in Folkestone via a dinghy.

Littlestone Lifeboat Station have said: “With guidance from rescue helicopter 163 from Lydd, the vessel was found with its occupants safely ashore.

“The Police and Border Force were in attendance.”

On top of that another 4 migrants have been discovered in a small boat off Dover this morning, with the number of boats coming across now becoming an epidemic.

Dover MP Charlie Elphicke has said: “With well over 100 migrants having broken into Britain in recent weeks the (Home Office and National Crime Agency) need urgently to explain what they are doing to put a stop to these crossings.

“This is an incredibly dangerous crossing to make in the middle of winter. Our volunteer lifeboat crews are being called out nearly every day. The British and French authorities must get a grip and find and stop the traffickers…before there is a tragedy.”

Westmonster has been covering these incidents for a while now and they are becoming more regular. Are the government actually deporting any of these people, or allowing them to stay? We’ve asked the Home Office who haven’t yet told us.

If a soft approach is taken and those arriving by boat are allowed to remain in the UK, the situation will tragically only get worse and more dangerous.
