A poll published today shows that 88% of French voters would support an outright ban on hardline Salafist Islam.
Salafists practice an ultra-conservative version of Islam which has been described as “the fastest-growing Islamic movement in Europe” and are huge supporters of sharia law.
A poll by the Odoxa company in the wake of an Islamist terror attack which left four dead and fifteen injured revealed that an overwhelming majority wanted President Emmanuel Macron to clamp down on Islamic extremism.
The poll showed that 87% of people wanted those suspected of religious radicalisation to be put in preventative detention, while 88% favored banning Salafist Islam outright.
A poll by Elabe showed that 80% would back the expulsion of foreign nationals who were radicalised.
The survey also revealed that more than half of French voters believe President Macron isn’t doing enough to deal with the terror threat facing the country.
Former French Presidential candidate, Marine Le Pen, and Conservative leader Laurent Wauquiez have both previously called for all foreign nationals on the country’s anti-terror ‘S-list’ to be deported.
It is estimated that around 20,000 people are on the terror watchlist.
Last year, Westmonster reported on the growing trend of French Salafists moving to Birmingham where they can live segregated from the rest of the city.
“I came for freedom. The children did not know that girls were not allowed to wear the veil at school (in France), that there were no halal dishes in the canteen. They were shocked,” Salafi Muslim Karim told L’Obs magazine.
Segregation and a lack of integration does nothing but damage to society. People in Europe have had enough of this radical Islamist terror threat living within their societies. It’s time it was tackled directly.
