80,000 sign petition against UK signing UN Migration Pact

More than 80,000 people have signed a petition urging the British government to reject the UN’s Migration Compact.

Westmonster has covered controversy surrounding the pact, with government after government rejecting it. The Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said: “The Compact fails to adequately distinguish between people who enter Australia illegally and those who come to Australia the right way, particularly with respect to the provision of welfare and other benefits.”

PM Morrison also wrote that: “The Compact would risk encouraging illegal entry to Australia and reverse Australia’s hard-won successes in combating the people smuggling trade.”

Many other countries including America, Poland, Bulgaria, Italy and Austria have also refused to sign up.

This UK petition on the official Parliament petition website simply states: “The UN’s Intergovernmental Conference will be held in Marrakech, Morocco on 10 and 11 December 2018. Like Hungary, the UK should not sign.”

Nigel Farage also weighed in, tweeting today: “The UN Migration Compact, which seeks to criminalise all criticism of mass migration and completely change the definition of a refugee, will be signed by many world leaders next week without ever consulting their citizens.”

Are the British government seriously going to sign the country up to this, or stand up for strong borders?

You can always rely on Westmonster to stand up for strong border controls. Stand with us.
