1,622 weapon wounds dealt with by London paramedics between January-July

Westmonster can reveal there have been 1,622 incidents of gun shot wounds, stab wounds or weapon-related wounds dealt with by the London Ambulance Service between January and July this year.

That means paramedics are dealing with serious, violent incidents involving weapons nearly 8 times every day.

It comes as the Ministry of Justice today announced 5,237 knife possession offences were dealt with by the Criminal Justice System in the 3 months leading up to June.

Recently a 14-year-old boy was shot and killed outside a playground in East London.

In Newham at the start of August there were 3 stabbings and 2 shootings in the course of one weekend.

In what is supposedly the greatest city in the world, this level of extreme violence is shocking. More must be done by the government to restore law and order on the capital’s streets.
