The event was attended by Home Secretary, Amber Rudd, Shadow Home Secretary, Diane Abbott and Mayor of London Sadiq Khan.

They were criticised by leading Muslim reformists, including Maajid Nawaz, for sharing a platform with Harun Khan, Secretary General of the ‘Muslim Council of Britain’. Ed Husain accused the MCB representative of being a “Caliphate advocate”.

Perhaps our so-called leaders should think twice before legitimising an organisation that only a tiny minority of Muslims say represent them and their views.
