Teens hooked on porn...
The Government has announced new plans to prevent UK kids from becoming a simple bunch of miscreants, perverts, and terrorists with the assistance of a new £9m ad campaign promoting "e-safety". Plans will also involve the setting up of a council to deal with similar issues.
Essentially, the campaign will be based on the idea of 'empowering' parents by helping them to make informed decisions about what their kids should be given access to. Westmonster would like to provide the following list of guidelines, which we feels probably covers the same ground, and at a much cheaper cost to the public than another one of those overly-dramatic government funded ads:
1. Keep your kids away from images of other peoples genitals, tits, and asses.
2. Do not allow your child access to pages that are for people over the age of 18.
3. Don't be a fucking moron.
Do we really need to spend £9m telling people to avoid what should be obvious? It seems that the government enjoys setting up bodies of one kind or another to deal with useless crap just so that they can employ people to do something. Why not spend the money on producing some kind of software for parents to install on their computers or something?
According to the BBC documentary 'Teens Hooked On Porn', UK kids are already viewing more illicit images than those in other nations, some of whom are becoming completely addicted. Psychologists predict that all of this reliance on pornography is going to have horrific side-effects on our culture once these kids have grown up. What will these side effects be? Nobody knows...
At least in the meantime our government is prepared to point out the bleedin' obvious.
