Save the squirrels...
But didn't fascism die with the Third Reich?
According to research, there are only 140,000 red squirrels left in the UK, compared to 2.5 million greys. As that old adage about strength in numbers seems to have some truth to it, the red ones are slowly being driven out of business (the business of life, that is) as their grey foes beat them to food supplies and other such necessities. But is this really a genuine reason for a cull? Or is it just another example of those toff Conservatives (like in Crewe) attempting to play god because they think they own everything?
Animal welfare campaigners have argued that a cull may not be the best solution to the problem, what with red squirrels facing extinction from human hunters also. And as animal welfare campaigners are renowned for being correct about most things in life, we're afraid we have to agree with them...
Killing squirrels based on colour alone is not right. Allowing such an inhumane move to take place is an affront to our basic liberties as members of a democracy. Here at Westmonster we will not allow this to stand. And we urge you to join us:
Contact your own MPs and tell them that you want no part in such plans.
Place posters around your neighbourhood saying 'Save the Squirrels', or that 'Squirrels are people too'.
E-mail pictures of squirrels to David MacLean so that he'll be forced to think about his actions:
Adopt any grey squirrels that you may find in the park as your own.
And, most importantly:
Never. Say. Die.
