Ministry for Break Ups
Painful break-up may stall Lib Dems...
The news comes just six months after Clegg replaced Sir Menzies Campbell as the head of the Lib Dem party and will no doubt come as a blow to the party as a whole who, gaining decent results in the Crewe by-election, seemed to be on a winning streak. Dismissing claims that he was leaving for purely mercenary, lustful, or avaricious reasons, Oates went on the record as stating:
"Although I will be very sad to leave such a great team behind, this new role was too good an opportunity to miss."
Mr Oates will return to Bell Pottinger, the PR firm at which he previously worked as a director. He said that his time with the Lib Dems was 'wonderful' and that he shall cherish the memories forever. "It's not them", he said, "it's me".
