David Cameron wants to be Boris Johnson...
Though the news may not come as the most interesting thing to happen to you today, it did give Westmonster a good chance to think about things in general terms. But are we really making sense? Or just doing that old media trick of trying to pass our shit off as diamonds?
The most interesting thing that we've taken from the announcement is that, technically, it puts Boris Johnson as being one step ahead of Cameron in terms of being wherever it is that the Conservative leaders aspire to find themselves. Though Bojo is technically subordinate to Cameron, the decision for Cameron to try and be more like Boris suggests that, on some twisted metaphysical level, it is actually Boris that is the true leader of the Conservatives. Whilst New Labour had the cult of Tony, the Conservatives are slowly beginning to form the cult of Bojo.
*Shudder*
When you think about it, this is a pretty scary thought, because it suggests that the Conservatives is just as clueless as the Labour party. Boris reached the top without really even trying, yet Cameron, who seems to try harder than anybody else to please the public, still seems to be in his position simply because of the fact that he's not Gordon Brown. But did Boris win the mayoral election because of his PR players or because of the fact that he has a natural personality?
Something tells us that it was the latter which played a bigger roal in the mayor's rise to fame, something that Cameron may be about to find out about the hard way.
How about the Conservatives just cut to the chase and give us Bojo for Prime Minister?!?

Ken had a natural personality equal to that of Boris and lost, and I also bet that if you asked your readers in April whether Boris had shown any of his natural personality on the Mayoral campaign they would all say no and that his "PR people" had gagged him, all of which means...
...shrewd move by DC I guess!
