John Bolton arrest update: no arrest

You know, if Westmonster was less erudite, we'd settle for a big picture of journalist George Monbiot being dragged away by security staff with the legend 'OMG OMG EPIC FAIL' emblazoned across it. But we hear that's the front cover for The Independent tomorrow, so we wouldn't want to step on anyones toes.

What are we rambling about? Well - remember the other day when we told you about Mr. Monbiot's plans to carry out a citizen's arrest on Iraq war architect John Bolton? He's only gone and tried it ... and failed miserably. Considering that poor George - Mysteron-style - made the fatally flawed move of revealing his plan to anyone who'd listen via every available media format, no-one can be too surprised, can they?

After handing in a charge sheet to local Welsh Police - which is ludricrous, as they're far too busy helping out in the hunt for Bin Laden - George then stormed into the Hay-on-Wye literary festival (where Bolton was discussing his new book) and launched into his attempted blatant self-promotion act of civil disobedience.

Despite his failure, though, George remains resolutely upbeat:

"I'm aware that I've made what I believe is the first attempt ever to arrest one of the perpetrators of the Iraq War, and I believe that is a precedent and I would like to see that precedent followed up."

And what's George's next target? None other than Tony Blair. Quick word of advice, though - try to retain the element of surprise this time around ...
