Bush loyalist writes book; no longer loyal

Rebellion is a good thing. Like, if you want to smoke a massive bong and take the day off work tomorrow, why shouldn't you, man? You don't have to play by their rules. And who cares if you're thirty-three years old and still working at Burger King? They can't judge you, man. No-one can.

Rebellion is even better than skipping a day flipping burgers, however, when it stakes a claim in the political province. Just take a look at Scott McClellan - he was the bland-as-bread Press Secretary for the Bush administration who used to dodder around innocently all day long, towing the company line like a doe-eyed Republipuppy. And now? Now he's written a scathing book which looks at the innermost workings of Dubya's domain ...

Called What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception - no sitting on the fence there, then - McClellan reveals how America fell victim to a:

" ... permanent campaign ... all about manipulating sources of public opinion to the president's advantage. Presidential initiatives from health care programs to foreign invasions are regularly devised, named, timed and launched with one eye (or both eyes) on the electoral calendar."

Also claiming that the motivation behind the Iraq War was nothing more than a 'propaganda campaign', What Happened is certainly a controversial volume - and one which, in terms of excitement value, towers over British counterparts such as John Prescott's Hey, I Can Be Vulnerable Too, Please Feel Sorry For Me or Boris Johnson's upcoming Holy Shit! Can You Believe I Actually Did It?
