Tory MP wants to deport Harrods owner

As rambling, delusional conspiracy freaks with grossly exaggerated senses of self-importance go, Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed is certainly one of the most high-profile specimens.

Fayed has long become infamous for claiming that his son Dodi - along with People's Sloane Ranger Princess Diana - was murdered by MI6, following dastardly instructions from the Duke of Edinburgh. With the results of a six-month, £2.8 million inquest into the Diana car crash proving that - gasp - it was all an accident, many are getting a little tired of Fayed's grumbling. Including Tory MP Gerald Howarth.

During a commons debate, Howarth brought up the topic of the Harrods owner in none-too-subtle style, launching into this tirade:

"Given the great distress caused by Fayed's absurd allegations and his burden on the public purse, will the home secretary now take swift action to remove for good, as an undesirable alien, this thief, crook and liar."

To which Immigration minister Liam Byrne replied:

"I have made it my policy not to discuss individual cases on the floor of the House, but suffice to say the comments are on the record."

With these kind of friends in high places, it's no wonder that Mohamed's repeated attempts to gain citizenship aren't working out ...
