Paddick's new campaign videos rattle some cages...
These two videos, which were originally posted over at the Lib Dem Voice blog, show Paddick's campaign taking a slightly smutty turn for the worse, concentrating on the foibles and public stereotypes of opponents' characters rather than their actual politics:
This first video is designed with the intention of smearing Boris Johnson and starts with the ominous message of 'Somewhere in Oxfordshire, a village is missing an idiot'.
The second takes a shot at Ken Livingstone by allowing us to view a satirical 'World Tour' undertaken by Ken and his friends.
Besides the fact that they're not really very funny, the videos simply go as further proof that English politics, especially in London, is becoming more about personality than anything else. Regardless what anybody says.
Perhaps UK politicians are aspiring to the glamour and dazzle of their American counterparts. It won't be too long before we can expect to see the likes of Boris and Livingstone doing some gimmicky American style wrestling a' la Clinton and Obama:
