Huckabee: potential Vice President?

Rumours are beginning to fly that former Republican leadership candidate Mike Huckabee - he of the frankly astonishing HuckChuckFacts commercial - may well end up as running mate for possible president John McCain.

Huckabee is remaining calm about the whole thing, but has stated that the position would be one he 'couldn't refuse'. Either that or he won't get the offer, will throw a gargantuan hissy fit and then start praying for his good ol' homeboy Jesus to kickstart Judgement Day purely out of spite.

McCain himself is taking on a similarly tight-lipped stance about the issue too, stating:

"I think there are a lot of places where Governor Huckabee can be helpful. Governor Huckabee got the votes of millions of Republican voters. He's a very important part of any election process and I will rely on him for a lot of things. I think he has a greater service to render to this nation."

Should this Batman/Robin alignment actually come into play, it'll certainly add an interesting slant to the campaign. McCain has actually been receiving relatively sympathetic treatment from certain Democractic quarters, with the consensus being that he 'isn't as bad as Bush' (admittedly like saying stepping in a bear trap isn't as bad as thrusting your face into it).

With Huckabee on board, would this be a case of division lines being drawn more sharply than ever?
