History to deem George W. as worst ever
It can't be easy being George Walker Bush. On one end of the political spectrum you have people that like you but secretly think that you're less intelligent than them. On the other you have people that really hate you and liken you to a either simian or a terrorist. It must hurt sometimes.
To make things even harder on the poor fellow a recent poll has shown that 61% of respected American historians have affored old George the laudable title of 'Worst President Ever'. How they can sleep at night we'll never know.
The research, conducted by the History News Network, claims that, compared to the previous 41 presidents, George Bush is a complete failure. Obviously, the war in Iraq has something to do with this decision. But is George W. really the worst president America has ever had? What about Nixon? Or that other guy?
As one historian clung to his thesaurus, he described President Bush as being, "glib", "contemptuous", "ignorant", "incurious", and "a dupe of anyone who humours his deluded belief in his historic self." If Mr Bush could understand such language use then he would surely be offended. Luckily for him, he doesn't seem to be able to and simply rebutted news of the 'research' by saying that it's too soon for us to judge history. Fair enough.
The biggest claim made by the historians is that when future generations look back on the Bush Presidency, they will see it as the time America began to lose it's power and have less influence within the world. With the Chinese and Indian economies blossoming and the apparent recession in The USA at the moment, perhaps there is some truth in this. But is it really all down to George Bush or are there other factors to consider? Like that those economies would have eventually grown, anyway.
The general consensus in most Western countries seems to be that life is pretty shitty at the moment. Polls published in English newspapers have shown that consumers have less confidence in the market than in the past few years. Others show that George Brown is losing popularity. There's a general feeling of discontent that it doesn't look like people will be shaking any time soon. People seem scared of each other but nobody can say why.
It makes sense to blame George Bush for our problems. He's the boss of America, America has made mistakes, and, for now, America is the boss of us all. Whether or not he will go down as ruining the world will remain to be seen. After all, if historians don't know one thing, it's what the future has in store.
