Gordon Brown failing more than anyone, ever
Here at Westmonster, we've said it before and we'll say it again: it really isn't turning out to be Gordon Brown's year.
After a non-stop calvalcade of scandal and general incompetence, the PM has seen his government take a rapid downturn in the popularity stakes and has even had his leadership called increasingly into question. Fresh analysis, though, reveals the awful truth to be infinitely more damaging than anyone expected - Brown has witnessed the sharpest decline in support since political polling began.
In what sounds less like polling results and more like the world's worst Unversity Challenge contestant, Brown has seen his 'personal rating' stat drop from plus 48 in August to a staggering minus 37 right now. Putting that into context? Not even Neville Chamberlain - following Germany's invasion of Norway - had to put up with figures so bad.
It gets even worse when you analyse things in depth. 61 percent of those polled blame Brown personally for the present financial crisis, and even more of them announced that they thought Brown wasn't the right person for the job. What with next month's local elections looming - and promising devastating results for Labour - are we due to see a leadership contest before the summer starts?
By the way, if you're seeing any electrical interference on your monitor, don't worry. That's just the radiating waves of smugness currently beaming out from Tony Blair's grin.
