Clinton and Obama unite against McCain

Despite the fact that the Democrat leadership battle is turning daily into the sort of tussle you'd see in a borstal exercise yard, it's nice to see that Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama can at least come together on one thing. That thing being: disliking John McCain.

Clinton and Obama - both in Pennsylvania, gearing themselves for their big face-off in a few weeks time - put their differences aside to slate McCain's economic policies. The most insulting part? A direct comparison between McCain's approach and that of chimp-in-chief George Dubya. Ouch.

Combining their talents like MOR crooners on a phoned-in duet, the two Democrat candidates have turned on their elderly rival with all guns blazing. Clinton was arguably the most vitriolic, stating that "after seven disastrous years of George Bush and Dick Cheney, the stakes in this election couldn't be higher and the need to change course couldn't be more urgent. But John McCain is only offering more of the same."

Obama went for a similar approach, labelling a McCain-led future as "four more years of the same", adding that "his response to the housing crisis amounts to little more than standing on the sidelines and watching millions of Americans lose their homes."

McCain has yet to respond directly to attacks, yet it's hard to see how he can salvage things after admitting his military knowledge was far superior than his financial savvy. That is, however, one way he can deflect the George Bush comparisons. Let's face it - military knowledge is better than no knowledge, right?
