Tories to cut tax. No, wait...
Westmonster is confused. Not 3 weeks ago, the Telegraph headline read "Tories look to tax cuts to help economy." Yet today, in a piece about the Conservatives' plan to raise spending on the NHS at the expense of other services, the Telegraph seems to be saying rather the opposite:
"It risks angering Tory right-wingers who think Labour has wasted taxpayers’ money on public services and want David Cameron to fight the next election promising tax cuts.
But those tax pledges look less likely after Mr Lansley pledged to increase health spending by up to £28 billion more a year."
So, Telegraph editors, please let us know: which story is factually incorrect? Or was the first just an effort to reassure the right-wing Tory base with a wink and a nudge not to pay any mind wot Crazy Davy is sayin' — that there would be tax cuts with a Conservative government?
