Could he? Could he really?

Westmonster has always believed that some people will never be elected leader of anything, while some people have it apparent in their DNA. Neil Kinnock was never going to be Prime Minister. Tony Blair always was. John Kerry was never going to be President. And Ken Livingstone was always going to be Mayor of London. It was just the narrative that everyone could see, and voters responded to it.

We've always assumed that the Boris Johnson as Mayor thing never rang true in people's minds. He was too silly. He was too odd. He was too posh. It just didn't work. But this morning we're wondering if we were wrong, thanks to politicalbetting's analysis of the new YouGov poll which puts Johnson five points ahead. When YouGov's Peter Kelner says someone is in "trouble", you should listen, and today he's said it about Livingstone. Have the crazy events of recent weeks finally caught up with Ken? And can Johnson come up with a positive reason to vote for him?

I have never read anything new here, just comment on comment and links to other original news content.

Ah, him again. Lovely to get so much attention from someone who hates what we do so much, and who goes to such lengths to disguise who they are - using Anonymouse to mask their IP. Nice. Someone with tech skills with an axe to grind. A competing blogger, maybe? Are you Guido?
