Little Nicky whiffs at PMQs
All eyes were on today's PMQs to see how Cleggers would perform in his first session as LibDem leader, and by Westmonster's reckoning, Nicky accomplished the admirable feat of making Ming Campbell seem exciting by comparison.
Perhaps we were distracted because he followed the PM and Cameron having spittle-laced exchanges with the wall, but Clegg's inaugural PMQ — about the poor getting screwed paying higher prices on prepaid fuel meters — was so earnest, we found ourselves yearning for the days of the Vince Cable Comedy Revue™.
Liberal Democrats hoping to see their firebrand new leader score some points (or at least cash in a decent one-liner) had to be disheartened. Cameron's lines may have been "rehearsed in front of the mirror," but at least they were good theatre. Zingers are what the kids want nowadays, and if Nicky's going to get those LibDem poll numbers up, he'll have to do better.
