Guido: "British Posts for British Pundits"

With an air of righteous indignation, Guido informs us he's sticking to coverage of Westminster, and would be rather satisfied if the rest of the UK blogosphere did too:

Does the British Commentariat really know what it is talking about? They seem awfully ready to provide analysis of the local psephology of states they have never even visited. Dale is off to Washington at least, almost every British hack seems to have a view on the U.S. elections. Guido doesn't really have a view, sure he might want Ron Paul to win, but knows he won't. In reality so long as Hilary loses it will be fine by Guido.

The U.S. election is getting a lot of coverage in Britain because… a) the process is fascinating, and b) there is a lot at stake, not just for Americans, but for the world. On Friday morning after the Iowa caucuses, they were the lead story on all major television and print news outlets in the UK. Westmonster suspects the same will be true on Wednesday after New Hampshire holds its primary, and probably fairly regularly during the election process.

Westmonster doesn't plan to ignore the election, and isn't about to be discouraged by the same Fawkes-wit who misspelt "Hillary." Furthermore, here at Westmonster HQ, not only have we been to Iowa and New Hampshire, but there might even be in our midst a passport with a bald eagle on its cover, alongside a tattered reporter's notebook from elections past.

Not that we'll be joining Mr. Dale in Washington, mind.

UPDATE: Westmonster would like to qualify the above, and take Guido's point of view in a single instance: If the blogger is Nad Dorries, we're all in favour of her not commenting on the U.S. election.
