Jeffrey Archer Watch: Art
Jeffrey's been to the palace to see some Renaissance art:
Desmond Shawe-Taylor Surveyor of the Queen's Pictures, pointed out in his introduction that after the beheading of Charles I, the wicked Cromwell sold off his massive collection, and clever Louis of France got his hands on it. We would otherwise have - outside of Italy - the finest Renaissance collection in the world. Another reason to dislike Cronmwell.
"Clever Louis of France"! "Wicked Cromwell"! We rather fear Jeffrey's historical compass has gone awry here, as he apparently prefers the 17th Century Arch-Satan (wars with Britain, absolutist monarchy, silly trousers) over the Father of Parliament (wars with, er, Ireland, end to monarchy (sort of), sensible British trousers). Is Jeffrey really a Catholic Agent for Wicked France? We should be told!
